At the conclusion of this project, the general contractor submitted claims for $1,063,998.57 in extra work, extended overhead and general conditions and other delay damages. By defending the federal lawsuit filed against The Public Building Commission right up to the week before a jury trial was scheduled, Mr. McConnell was able to negotiate a settlement of the claims for less than 32 cents on the dollar claimed.

About These Photos

This building, pastel colored and on a diminutive scale, was specifically designed to put at ease the sexually abused children it was built to serve. The Center houses offices and provides services for all the agencies coming into contact with sexually abused children, including the Chicago Pollice Department, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Cook County States Attorney Child Protection Unit, and the Cook County Bureau of Health Services.
